The 100th Anniversary of the Battle of Galipoli was commemorated on April 26th, 2015. Commonly known as ANZAC Day for the soldiers from Australia and New Zealand who fought there, this annual event memorializes the sacrifices of soldiers and thier families from both sides of the war. This year’s event was held at Barnsley Gardens in Newnan, Georgia. Turkish Honorary Consul General Mona Diamond Sunshine read from Kemal Ataturk’s speech. In attendance were two ATFC board members who had relatives who fought in the battle. Dogan Eroglu’s grandfather, Edikoglu Ibrahim and Senih Geray’s great-grandfather both were at Galipoli. The ATFC would like to thank all of the Turkish community who made the trip to Newnan for this event. The presence of both communities made the commemoration very special.
