Ayse Deniz Lokmanoglu

  • Ayse graduated from Cornell University in 2009 with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Near Eastern Studies. She worked at Council on Foreign Relations as the temporary research assistant of Dr. Steven Cook Senior Fellow for Middle Eastern Studies, specifically regarding international affairs in the Levant and Turkey and on his upcoming book proposal on The Struggle for Egypt: From Nasser to Tahrir Square. She then attended Harvard University to receive her M.A. (2012) in Middle Eastern Studies with her thesis "The implications of the changes in the elementary school religious education in Turkey between the years 1980-1989".
  • At Harvard University she was the Research Assistant to Professor Lenore G. Martin, Associate of the Center for Middle Eastern Studies and the assistant of the Seminar on Turkey in the Modern World of Weatherhead Center of International Affairs. She also worked as a Foreign Trade and Investment Consultant for Lokmanoglu Shipping Agency throughout her studies. She worked as a Middle East and Turkey Consultant at Istanbul Ekonomi, representing global telecommunications, energy and transportation companies. Currently she is pursuing her PhD at Georgia State University as a Presidential Fellow in the Transcultural Conflict and Violence Initiative (TCV).
